These terms apply to GeoProof ("the app"), published by Hugo Software. By installing or using the app you agree to them.

What the app is

GeoProof is a recording tool, not a measuring instrument and not a certification service. It writes into your photo the location, accuracy, altitude, date and time that your device's operating system reports at that moment, plus an address looked up from a public map service.

Accuracy — read this

The coordinates come from your device's GPS and related sensors. Their precision depends on your hardware, the sky view, buildings, weather and network conditions. The app shows the accuracy value (for example ± 5 m) reported by the device and does not hide or improve it. The clock is your device's clock; if it is wrong, the stamp will be wrong.

Addresses come from OpenStreetMap data and can be incomplete, outdated or approximate, especially in rural areas and in recently built streets.

We make no warranty that a stamped photo is fit for any particular legal, insurance, contractual or evidentiary purpose. If a photo matters legally, do not rely on this app alone.

Your content and your responsibility

Photos you take stay on your device; we never receive them. You are solely responsible for what you photograph and for how you use the result. You must comply with the laws that apply to you, including laws on photography, privacy, trespass, workplace rules and data protection. Do not photograph people or private property where you have no right to, and do not use the app for surveillance or harassment.

You must not present a GeoProof photo as something it is not — for example, altering a photo elsewhere and passing the stamp off as proof of an untrue place or time.

Purchases

GeoProof PRO is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase sold through Google Play. Payment, refunds and taxes are handled by Google under Google Play's own terms; refund requests go to Google Play, not to us. PRO is tied to the Google account that bought it and can be restored on other devices signed in with that account using Restore purchase.

We may change what the free tier includes in future versions, but we will not remove PRO from an account that has already purchased it.

Third-party services

The app uses OpenStreetMap services for address lookup and map tiles, and Google Play Billing for purchases. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies and we are not responsible for them.

Availability and changes

The app is provided "as is". We may update, change or discontinue features. Address lookup and map tiles depend on third-party services and an internet connection, and may be unavailable; the stamp continues to work from coordinates alone.

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hugo Software is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from reliance on the accuracy of a stamp, from lost photos, or from the unavailability of third-party services. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
