Privacy Policy

GeoProof ("the app") is a GPS timestamp camera for Android, published by Hugo Software. It stamps the location, address, date and time into your photo. There is no account, no login and no server of ours behind it. This page explains exactly what stays on your device and the one thing that does leave it.

What stays on your device

Your photos are stored only on your device, in the app's local storage. They are never uploaded to us. We run no server for this app and hold no copy of your images anywhere.

The same is true of your settings: the use case you pick, the reference number you type (order, container, plate, job number), your company logo, watermark, and project or team tags. All of it lives on the device and nowhere else. There is no cloud backup and no sync between devices. Uninstalling the app removes all of it.

What leaves your device

To turn your coordinates into a street address, the app sends your latitude and longitude to the OpenStreetMap Nominatim service (nominatim.openstreetmap.org), operated by the OpenStreetMap Foundation. To draw the small map thumbnail on the stamp, it requests map tiles from tile.openstreetmap.org, which reveals the approximate area you are looking at. These requests carry your coordinates and your device's IP address and are handled under the OpenStreetMap Foundation's privacy policy.

Nothing else goes with them. Your photo is not sent. Your reference number is not sent. There is no identifier attached that would let anyone tie those requests to you across sessions.

These requests only happen while the app is open and location is on. If you are offline, or if you turn off Address and Map thumbnail in Settings, no request is made at all and the stamp keeps working from the coordinates alone.

Location

The app uses your location for one purpose: to produce the coordinates, accuracy value and altitude that make up the stamp, and to look up the address as described above. Location is not collected in the background, not logged, and not sent to us.

Camera

The camera is used to take the photo you are looking at, nothing more. There is no background capture.

Purchases

GeoProof PRO is a single one-time purchase processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your card details — Google tells us only that the purchase exists so the app can unlock. "Restore purchase" simply asks Google Play again whether this Google account owns it.

No tracking

GeoProof contains no analytics SDK, no crash reporting SDK, no advertising SDK. We do not use device fingerprinting or third-party identifiers, we do not build a profile of you, and we do not sell or share personal data with anyone for advertising.

Children

GeoProof is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children.

Data deletion

Because your data lives only on your device, you can delete it at any time: delete individual shots, use Delete all in the gallery, or uninstall the app. We hold no server-side copy to delete. See the data removal page for details.

We may update this policy as the app evolves; the current version is always available at this address.
